PlC 9/25


PLC Notes 

Planned learning targets for the next three weeks.
Rearranged our curriculum a little bit to make it make a little more sense for World History.
 Adjusted topic flow to: renaissance -> reformation -> scientific revolution -> age of exploration -> ottomans, safavids -> absolutism which will cover us until the end of October.

LTs:
M: We will describe the ideologies of the Federalists and Anti Federalists.
T: We will describe the "common good" when it comes to American Government.
W/R: We will analyze the Bill of Rights.
F: NO SCHOOL

LTs (world):
M: We will identify Descartes and Bacon and the creation of the scientific method.
T: We will become experts on a Scientific Revolution era scientist.
R: We will teach the class about one scientific revolution scientist.

Upcoming: 
Civics Test (backwards planned): Oct 12th
Begin Civics Election Project (Backpack opportunity and possible PBL): Oct 15th

PLC 9/20


9/20 PLC Minutes
*We only met once this week due to Backpack training.

Set learning targets for both World History and Civics next week.
Decided to push intervention to the next Viking Time slot (we only have one major assessment; by then we will have had three.)

LTS:
Civics: 
M: We will describe the battles of the American Revolution.
T: We will describe the strengths and the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation.
W/R: We will reenact the constitutional convention and compromise on a government plan.
F: We will compare and contrast the Federalist and Anti-Fed point of view.

WH: 
M: We will define the term "schism" and its impact on the Catholic Church.
T: We will identify three reasons why the Catholic Church was weakened during the Renaissance.
R: We will describe the three major reformers of the Protestant Reformation.
F: We will identify the actions taken by the Catholic Church during the Counter Reformation.

PLC 9/13


Civics PLC meeting 09/13
(PLC only required to meet once this week thanks to embedded PD on Backpack on Friday)

We switched LT's (Kelly taught colonial society Tuesday, Funk taught magna carta/english BoR) so we'll finish out the week doing the opposite. (Funk: colonies, Kelly: magna carta etc)

Civics Assessment date: October 12th (Unit 1 test: 75pts)
Tentatively set week by week plans with topics to cover. Backwards planning directly from the test, written by Funk.
Set up learning targets for next week as well.

CIV
M: 9/17: We will explain the actions taken by the Brits that led to American anger.
T: 9/18:  We will identify the reasons laid out by Thomas Paine for the Americans to start the Revolutionary War.
W/R: 9/19 + 9/20: We will justify the reasoning for the Americans to participate in the Boston tea party.
F: 9/21: We will describe the major battles of the American Revolution.
(I will create a timeline with my classmates and research one point on said timeline)

WH:

M: We will identify which of the inventions of the Renaissance is the GOAT.
T: We will identify the impact of the invention of the printing press on society.
W/R:  We will compare and contrast the northern and southern Renaissance.
F: We will describe the conflicting views of the Catholic Church and the new Renaissance thinkers.

PLC 9/6/2018

Attendance:  Funk, Kelly, Tinker, Roy

Teachers worked on Review and Poster project  in class today. 

The students were a little squirrelly today with the very extended class period.

Plan is ready for next week.    Test is ready. 

Revolution and Federalism to start on the block day.  Backward Mapping for the next unit will begin next week after critiquing last year's test.

Worked on PGP and SLF.
