M: (12/10) We will describe the causes of unrest in France against the monarchy.
T: (12/11) We will describe the events of the Tennis Court Oath & the Estates General.
R: (12/13) We will describe actions taken by the bourgeoisie and sans-culottes that led to the French Revolution.
F: (12/14) We will define the "Reign of Terror" and the impact it had on the French.

Finalized Civics learning targets:
M: We will identify the two parts of the legislative branch.
T: We will analyze the Constitution to find the powers of Congress.
W: We will describe the journey of a bill to a law.

Tuesday 11/13 
* Wrapped up the Election Project
* Planned our new unit (Three Branches overview -> Executive Branch after Thanksgiving to End of Semester)

* Talked about Civics Test Final & World History general final

• Giving the Civics Citizenship Test 2x: take the better of two scores for the Final 
• Double bubble for grades? 
• Discussed how to review for the finals; shared different techniques for reviewing for major tests and what might work the best with our students 

Thursday 11/15 

*Briefly reviewed the meeting contents of earlier in the week 

*Discussed the DBQ: it's going well for both Kelly and Funk! 

*Talked about "my favorite no" technique for working with thesis statements

*Deciding on curving the final; use of gradecam for the final 

*Covered failures/making a fail list/intervention 

*Formal/informal powers of the Presidency

Gold Day Minutes

Set final schedule for election project: Project will end Tuesday. 
Begin Executive Unit starting block day!

Talked through logistics for the rest of the project
*Debate prep questions -> combed through them for accuracy and relevance and prepared for Wednesday.
*Set election values and grading: decided to meet and talk about what does and doesn't work in PBL as it finishes
*Adding in clout and travel committees for next year?
*Also next year; working on gearing towards specific issues (unions/policy for industrial, healthcare for medical)

Election Project

Timing for this is excellent with election day next week. 
Students are debating.

Teachers plan to combine 3rd periods since both of their classes are pretty small to help with the debates.

There is a rubric for scoring the debates.

Students will be asked to evaluate the project, their performance and their group.  This project is a backpack opportunity. 

Ms. Funk will be presenting this activity on Gold Day.

The usage of Google Classroom has been very positive for these teachers and has helped with make up work and helping the students find the materials.  The teachers are seeing more investment from the students because of the usage of technology. 

The current plan is to use the Citizenship test as the Final which will also serve as somewhat of a diagnostic exam to determine what students are ready.

Easy PLC day today. We've already set our learning targets for the next two weeks.
*Discussed U of L mentor situations; set agenda for PLC time on Gold day.
* Started discussing civics project but we'll finalize them next week!

PlC 9/25

PLC Notes 

Planned learning targets for the next three weeks.
Rearranged our curriculum a little bit to make it make a little more sense for World History.
 Adjusted topic flow to: renaissance -> reformation -> scientific revolution -> age of exploration -> ottomans, safavids -> absolutism which will cover us until the end of October.

LTs:
M: We will describe the ideologies of the Federalists and Anti Federalists.
T: We will describe the "common good" when it comes to American Government.
W/R: We will analyze the Bill of Rights.
F: NO SCHOOL

LTs (world):
M: We will identify Descartes and Bacon and the creation of the scientific method.
T: We will become experts on a Scientific Revolution era scientist.
R: We will teach the class about one scientific revolution scientist.

Upcoming: 
Civics Test (backwards planned): Oct 12th

9/20 PLC Minutes
*We only met once this week due to Backpack training.

Set learning targets for both World History and Civics next week.
Decided to push intervention to the next Viking Time slot (we only have one major assessment; by then we will have had three.)

LTS:

T: We will describe the strengths and the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation.
W/R: We will reenact the constitutional convention and compromise on a government plan.
F: We will compare and contrast the Federalist and Anti-Fed point of view.

WH: 
M: We will define the term "schism" and its impact on the Catholic Church.
T: We will identify three reasons why the Catholic Church was weakened during the Renaissance.
R: We will describe the three major reformers of the Protestant Reformation.
F: We will identify the actions taken by the Catholic Church during the Counter Reformation.
